Fusiebelofte ‘Meer concurrentie in Telecom’ wordt ingelost

Den Haag, 29 oktober 2019 – T-Mobile Nederland breekt na de mobiele markt nu ook de markt voor vast internet open door keihard de concurrentie aan te gaan met KPN en VodafoneZiggo. De consumenten zijn de grote winnaars. Zij krijgen door deze concurrentiestrijd onbeperkt mobiel internet in combinatie met snel vast internet en kunnen honderden euro’s per jaar besparen. Hiermee komt T-Mobile de tijdens de fusie gemaakte belofte na om meer concurrentie op de Nederlandse telecommarkt Nederland te garanderen. T-Mobile maakt met haar nieuwe propositie supersnel internet tot 1Gbit/s beschikbaar. Bovendien breekt het bedrijf met de bestaande conventie dat er voor hogere snelheid voor je vaste internet standaard meer betaald moet worden. Wanneer een consument Unlimited mobiel en vast internet combineert in het Klantvoordeelprogramma, betaalt hij slechts €25,- voor Unlimited en €25,- voor vast. 

T-Mobile wil het aantal klanten dat gebruikmaakt van een gecombineerd (mobiel & vast) abonnement fors laten toenemen. Daarom start de provider vandaag een offensief waarbij de klant Unlimited voor mobiel kan combineren met het snelste vaste internet van T-Mobile dat op zijn adres beschikbaar is. Dit kan oplopen tot een snelheid van 1Gb/s wanneer gebruik kan worden gemaakt van het eigen glasvezelnetwerk. Het aanbod van de Uit en Thuis combinatie kent de laagste prijs in Nederland.

Concurrentie aangaan met het duopolie 
T-Mobile breekt met het scherpe aanbod de markt voor combinatie abonnementen (mobiel & vast) open. Tot vandaag zat de Nederlandse consument gevangen in een gouden kooi. Hoge kortingen en ‘gratis’ dubbele data op het mobiele abonnement werden gecompenseerd met veel te hoge prijzen voor vast internet thuis. Hoge prijzen die door de jaarlijkse prijsverhogingen van KPN en VodafoneZiggo nota bene steeds hoger worden. Met dit aanbod gaat T-Mobile de concurrentiestrijd aan met het duopolie. En daarmee biedt de provider klanten in de Nederlandse markt voor gecombineerde abonnementen een serieus en eenvoudig alternatief.

Waarom meer betalen voor een hogere snelheid?
Op 1,1 miljoen huisadressen waar T-Mobile haar diensten via het eigen glasvezelnetwerk aanbiedt kan nu al gebruik worden gemaakt van een internetabonnement met een snelheid van 1Gbit/s. Een ongekend hoge snelheid waarvoor de consument bij T-Mobile niets extra betaalt indien hij dit combineert met Unlimited voor mobiel. Op plekken waar T-Mobile geen eigen netwerk heeft, geldt een maximale internetsnelheid tot 100 Mbit/s. T-Mobile wil graag dat supersnel internet van 1 Gbit/s voor iedereen in Nederland beschikbaar komt zonder dat daar extra voor betaald moet worden. Dit is alleen mogelijk indien zowel KPN als VodafoneZiggo hun vaste netwerk tegen marktconforme voorwaarden openstellen voor andere aanbieders. Dit zou een grote stap zijn naar het digitaliseren van Nederland.

We herhalen onze belofte om, behalve de inflatiecorrectie, twee jaar lang de prijzen voor vast internet niet te verhogen. Iets wat onze concurrenten afgelopen jaren wél keer op keer hebben gedaan. We blijven conventies in de markt doorbreken door onze klanten toegang te geven tot de mogelijkheden van nu. Daar staan we voor als bedrijf!“

Promise of ‘More competition in Telecom market’ is being fulfilled

Consumer is the big winner: After the mobile market, T-Mobile is now also disrupting the market for fixed internet

The Hague, October 29^th 2019 – After the mobile market, T-Mobile is now also disrupting the market for fixed internet by entering into fierce competition with KPN and VodafoneZiggo. Consumers are the big winner, as they will be getting unlimited access to high-speed internet, while saving hundreds of euros a year. With this initiative T-Mobile is fulfilling its merger-promise to guarantee more competition on the Dutch telecom-market. With this new proposition T-Mobile makes high speed internet available up to 1Gbit/s. In addition, T-Mobile breaks with the existing convention that consumers need to pay more, for high speed internet. When consumers chose this new Customer benefit proposition, combining Unlimited on their mobile with fixed internet at home, they will only pay €25 for Unlimited and €25 euro for fixed.

T-Mobile aims at a considerable increase of the amount of customers that uses the combined subscription of mobile and fixed. That is why the telecom provider is launching a very competitive proposition today, offering the customer a combination of Unlimited for mobile with the fastest T-Mobile internet available at his or her address. The internet speed offered will reach as high as 1Gb/s on the provider's own fiber network. The combined ‘mobile and fixed’ proposition is offered at by far the lowest price in The Netherlands.

In competition with the Duopoly
With the competitive ‘mobile and fixed’ offer, T-Mobile is disrupting the market for combined subscriptions. Until today, Dutch consumers were trapped in a golden cage. High discounts and ‘free’ double data offerings on mobile are directly compensated by too high a price for fixed internet at home. Already high KPN and VodafoneZiggo prices keep rising year after year. With this highly competitive proposition, T-Mobile will enter in fierce competition with the existing duopoly by offering consumers in the Dutch market a serious, but simple alternative for combined subscriptions.

Why pay more for higher speed?
Today, 1.1 million households already enjoy the unprecedented internet speed of 1 Gbit/s that T-Mobile offers its consumers via its own fiber network. An ultra-fast proposition consumers do not have to pay extra for when it is combined with Unlimited on their mobile. In areas without a T-Mobile network, the maximum speed reaches up to 100 Mbit/s. T-Mobile wants everyone in The Netherlands to have access to that high 1 Gbit/s internet speed by delivering this ultra-fast proposition without any price increase. This however, is only possible if KPN and Vodafone/Ziggo open up their networks under market conditions to other providers. This would be a huge step forward, in the digitalization of The Netherlands.
