T-Mobile verrast 250 buurtgenoten Laakkwartier met kerstpakket

Zaterdag 11 december was het weer tijd voor de jaarlijkse kerstactie in het Laakkwartier in Den Haag. Samen met Wijkberaad Laak Centraal bezochten medewerkers van T-Mobile Nederland ruim 250 oudere en alleenstaande buurtgenoten. Door de coronamaatregelen zitten meer mensen in sociale isolatie en is er meer eenzaamheid onder ouderen en alleenstaanden. Om juist deze groep in aanloop naar de feestdagen een vrolijk moment te bezorgen, brachten het Wijkberaad en T-Mobile medewerkers een coronaproof bezoekje aan hun buren. Zij werden verrast met een goedgevuld kerstpakket. Dit als alternatief voor de jaarlijkse kerstbrunch op het hoofdkantoor van T-Mobile, die door de coronamaatregelen voor het tweede jaar op rij niet door kon gaan.

Ieder jaar organiseerde T-Mobile samen met Wijkberaad Laak Centraal een kerstbrunch op haar hoofdkantoor voor zo’n 250 ouderen en alleenstaanden uit de wijk. Sommige van hen kijken het hele jaar uit naar dit feestelijke uitje en de ontmoeting met andere mensen uit de wijk. Het gaat vooral om gezellig samenzijn, omdat veel van hen de feestdagen alleen doorbrengen. Nu de brunch door de coronamaatregelen voor het tweede jaar op rij niet door kon gaan, sloegen de organisaties wederom de handen ineen voor een warm alternatief. Ook nu werden de 250 buurtbewoners op een vrolijke en persoonlijke – en coronaproof – manier verrast, maar dan aan hun eigen voordeur. Uit handen van T-Mobile medewerkers uit alle lagen van de organisatie en de vrijwilligers van het Wijkberaad, ontvingen zij vandaag een verrassingsbezoek met een gezellig praatje en een feestelijk kerstpakket. Dit pakket werd speciaal voor deze actie samengesteld door Doegoods, een sociale onderneming die mensen met een afstand tot de arbeidsmarkt aan het werk helpt.

Echt contact
T-Mobile maakt zich hard voor het inzetten van digitalisering voor een inclusieve samenleving. De telecomprovider wil mensen helpen mee te doen in de samenleving en zo eenzaamheid achter zich te laten. De jaarlijkse actie van Wijkberaad Laak Centraal en T-Mobile is onderdeel van het programma Digitale Inclusie, een van de vier programma’s in het Connect to Change plan van T-Mobile. In dit plan zijn alle sociaalmaatschappelijke activiteiten gebundeld.

Tisha van Lammeren, CCO T-Mobile Nederland én ambassadeur van het programma Digitale Inclusie, ging zelf ook de wijk in: “Bij T-Mobile zeggen we altijd dat verbinding maken verder gaat dan ons telecomnetwerk. We willen mensen met elkaar in contact brengen. Juist ook die mensen voor wie dat minder vanzelfsprekend of makkelijk is. Geweldig om te zien dat ook dit jaar onze medewerkers zich weer samen het Wijkberaad vrijwillig inzetten om de buurtbewoners een hart onder de riem te steken. En op bakfietsen door de wijk gaan om hen te verrassen met een gezellig praatje en een mooi kerstpakket.”

Blije buurtbewoners
Hoewel ze de lunch voor het tweede jaar op rij moeten missen, was deze verrassing voor de buurtbewoners een fijn alternatief. Zo liet een van de buurtbewoners weten: “De gezelligheid van de jaarlijkse lunch mis ik wel. Maar ik ben heel blij met deze verrassing, we worden niet vergeten. Hartstikke leuk dat jullie langskomen, dat mogen jullie vaker doen. Laten we dat maar afspreken!”

T-Mobile surprises 250 neighbors Laakkwartier with a Christmas package

Wijkberaad Laak Centraal and T-Mobile deliver festive surprise to elderly and singles 

Saturday 11 December was the day: the annual Christmas action in Laakkwartier in The Hague. Together with Wijkberaad Laak Centraal employees of T-Mobile Netherlands visited over 250 elderly and single neighbors. Because of the corona measures, more people are in social isolation and there is more loneliness among elderly and single people. In order to give specifically this group a cheerful moment in the run-up to the holidays, Wijkberaad and T-Mobile paid them a corona proof visit. They were surprised with a well-filled Christmas gift as an alternative to the annual Christmas brunch at T-Mobile's headquarters, which, for the second year in a row, couldn’t take place due to the corona measures.

Every year, together with Wijkberaad Laak Centraal, T-Mobile organizes a Christmas brunch at its' headquarters for about 250 elderly and single people from the neighborhood. Some of them look forward to this festive outing and meeting other people from the Laakkwartier for the whole year. It is mostly about getting together because a lot of them spend the holidays by themself. Now that the brunch couldn't take place for the second year in a row due to corona measures, the organizations joined forces again for a warm alternative. Again 250 neighbors were surprised in a cheerful and personal - and corona-proof - way, at their own front doors. T-Mobile employees from all levels of the organization and volunteers from the Wijkberaad went out and brought not only a good conversation but also a festive Christmas package. This package was put together especially for this occasion by Doegoods, a social enterprise that helps people with a distance to the labor market find work.

Real contact
T-Mobile is committed to using digitization for an inclusive society. This way we want to help people participate in society and leave loneliness behind. The annual action with Wijkberaad Laak Centraal is part of the Digital Inclusion program, one of the four programs in the Connect to Change plan. This plan bundles all social activities.

Tisha van Lammeren, CCO at T-Mobile Netherlands AND ambassador for the Digital Inclusion program, went into the neighborhood herself: "At T-Mobile we always say that connection goes beyond our telecom network. We want to bring people into contact with each other. Especially those people for whom this is not so obvious or easy. It's great to see that this year our employees have once again joined forces with the Wijkberaad to make local residents feel better. And to go around the neighborhood on carrier bikes to surprise them with a nice chat and a nice Christmas gift."

Happy neighbors
Although they had to miss the lunch for the second year in a row, this surprise was a nice alternative for the neigbors. One of them said: "I do miss the sociability of the annual lunch. But I am very happy with this surprise, we are not forgotten. Very nice of you to come, you should do that more often. Let's agree on that!"
